This week we are reading "Santa's Stuck" by Rhonda Gowler Greene.  It is illustrated by Henry Cole.
This is such a fun book.  The children laugh out loud when the animals are trying to push Santa out of the chimney.

Storytime with Aunt B - "Christmas in the Big Woods"

Tonight we are going to read "Christmas in the Big Woods."  It is a picture book adapted from "The Little House" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is about a simpler Christmas when family  arrives for a visit in a bobsled.  The children will love the illustrations by Renee Graef.

I went to the library's book sale and found this booklet, "How To Use Spices."  It was published by the American Spice Association and was copyrighted 1958. It has lots of recipes and a spice compatibility chart. I love looking through these old cookbooks.

Storytime with Aunt B - "Art"

This week we are reading "Art" by Patrick McDonnell and "The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse" by Eric Carle. "Art" is about a young boy named Art who draws all kinds of art.  He draws scribbles and swirls, zigzags and doodles. This book helps the children see their own work as art. In "The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse", the child says "I am an artist and I paint... a blue horse, a red crocodile" and more.  It has beautiful illustrations and encourages children to be creative and shows that you should paint what you like.
