Cheese Straws

This is a recipe from the 1958 booklet "How to Use Spices."  Cheese straws  were served at a lot of gatherings in the 50's and 60's.

How To Use Spices

I went to the library's book sale and found this booklet, "How To Use Spices."  It was published by the American Spice Association and was copyrighted 1958. It has lots of recipes and a spice compatibility chart. I love looking through these old cookbooks.

Blue Ribbon Buttermilk Biscuits

"Roll it, pat it, mark it with a B.... for better-than-ever biscuits in 12 minutes!"
That's the claim in this recipe printed in McCall's magazine in February 1996.
They certainly look flaky and delicious.

Halloween Cookie Cutters

I love vintage cookie cutters, even though I rarely make cut out cookies anymore.  They remind me of  all the wonderful times spent in the kitchen with my mother.
